CONGRATULATIONS TO MARIANNE – A COURSE IN WEIGHT LOSS IS ONE OF OPRAH’S FAVORITE THINGS 2010!

I’ve started writing a series of posts about my friend, Marianne Williamson’s new book, A Course in Weight Loss entitled “What Have You Got to Lose?” The book is about using a spiritual approach to permanent weight loss. The posts will chronicle my own journey through the 21 lessons, once every couple weeks, and I’m asking all of you to join in with me. We will be holding a “conversation” about our experiences and any questions that arise during the process while supporting each other, and Marianne has kindly offered to pop in periodically to help out.

Marianne signing your book?

Saw the book on Oprah's 25 Favorite Things show… as well as a fab panini maker from William's Sonoma and a must have lasagna/brownie pan from Baker's Edge where every piece is an edge piece! Something made me giggle when I realized those were the 3 things I wanted the most! Along with the Philip Stein watch with diamond bezel. Can never pass up diamonds ;)Stacey Gibbs Young

I'm not sure why you make those remarks AM YISRAEL CHAI and Annonymous. What difference does it make what faith she was born into? These are SPIRITUAL, not religious, practices.None of us own the Higher Power, no matter what name is given – God, Jesus, Allah, Budah, Krishna… that higher power is everywhere and in every one of us. We are all interconnected, and need to stop using labels that separate, and learn to love each other unconditionally. Marianne lectures from A Course in Miracles which is a spiritual practice open to any and all denominations.

Maybe you should mention to your library that they should buy another copy since there is such high demand for it Lorraine? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.Odette – the comment needs to be on one of the blog posts http://jewelsfromtherovingstove.blogspot.com/2010/11/what-have-you-got-to-lose-giveaway.html#commentsMe too Dimitra, and I'm finding less resistance, and more excitement over working through the process now.Her message resonates deeply with me too Melita – it is an extremely powerful one!

Nancy – I can only speak for myself, and I am moving very slowly through the process, but I do believe it is helping. I haven't progressed far enough yet – I still need to move through some of the darker emotions at the root of my binge eating, but when I do the work – I see results.

I'm really excited to participate in the contest and to see how the program adds tomy life. I'm working so hard on what I need to change to successfully become lean, strong and helathy my wholelife long… in a beautiful way and not out of emotional pain driven eating disorders or lifestyle issues unresolved. Thanks for the inspiration and the sharing. jpJeri Porcaro

I am also moving slowly through the process. Lesson 2 was interesting, writing the letter to both sides of me brought out a lot of anger. So much that I wrote back to "Fat Me" and told her what I thought of her tactics. LOL A doctor might think that I'm schizophrenic after those letters, but they really helped to vent my anger which led to the realization that I turned to food for comfort because there was no where else to turn to. That in itself was a hard thing to admit. I'm heading for Lesson 3 in a bit and know that in time, I'm going to understand a lot more about myself and will hopefully know and believe that I'm not the train wreck that I always believed I was and contrary to what some people in my life have told me, that I'm worth a lot more than they would have me believe. I'm moving forward, believing in myself and aiming to make more positive changes. I will be the person I want so badly to be, but it will only happen if I believe in myself and show others that I do. That doesn't mean dishing out attitude, it means that there is a certain self confidence that surrounds a person. That person is going to be me.

I have heard so much about Marianne Williamson. I have another of the Oprah pics Turbo Jam. Fitness is not my issue my relationship to food is my biggest challenge. I have lost 135 lbs but am not stuck about 35 lbs from my goal and feel like this book could help with the part of me that is holding me back from my full potential.
