The call came in the midst of a killer day of fitting in clients, juggling a slew of meetings with investors, web developers, and reading through contracts (all with the kind of technical and legal jargon that make my head ache). “Huh… what? Are you sure? How? I can’t do this right now,'” as if my already full schedule would somehow make the horrible truth come undone.
Denial and numbness. “Just hold it together Jewels” kept going through my mind like a mantra all day long until I could stop long enough to let it sink in. As the shock dissipates, the memories engulf me….
… the countless fun nights that faded into days, shopping until we dropped, always up to mischief, holidays and birthdays never forgotten, falling out and making up again, cruising Paris in the back of Albert’s vintage white milk truck, Crystal Rose, fashion week, boyfriends and broken hearts, The Plaza Athenee… even my parents remember you and the fabulous purple coat you wore to my wedding reception.
There are just some people who stand out in the course of our lives, even when we lose touch with distance and take it for granted they’ll be there when we return. You may be gone way too soon, luv – but you are impossible to forget! Until we meet again, Love Jewels xo
